First descent: as in he made the first descent of this face. I would also argue that he does not have a death wish, just a desire to push the limits. The same as individuals such as Laird Hamilton, Kit DesLaurier, Tony Alva and others have done in their respective disciplines. Just because we (you, me, others) don't have the ability (physical, mental or whatever) to push ourselves to a limit that redefines what is "possible" it doesn't mean we should declare others who do as "crazy" or "having a death wish". Just marvel at what they can do and appreciate the fact that you could witness it.
No doubt about the guys ability. That's obvious. It's just that one little error and you're dead. That's the deathwish part. It's not like he was taking a calculated risk. No one had been down that face, no one could predict with any certainty how the snow conditions, depth, avalanche risk, etc would be. So the calculation that he made was more of a gamble. His only ace in the hole is his own physical and mental prowess. Either way it was a gamble. I'm not saying he was foolish either. I'm glad he won.

"Terje's First Descent"... so did he do a second descent? If so this guy, as talented as he may be, has death wish.
