Washington Cell Phone Ban Signed into law:
Good job Washington State law makers. Way to go on signing the bill banning using your hands to speak on your cell phone or to text while driving. I am sooo relieved that they have made it illegal to do that, drink coffee, apply your makeup, look at a map, talk to your passengers while gesticulating with your hands, rubber-neck while passing an accident or going through a construction zone, smoke a cigarette, as well as the entire list of other things that might distract you while you are driving. The roads are going to be so much safer out there.
What's that? What? They only made it illegal to use your cell phone unless using a hands free device? Now that seems kind of silly doesn't it? They better go back to the drawing board to make sure the roads are safe for everyone out there. Idiots.

It's not even a violation that they can pull you over for. It's a secondary violation, so if they pull you over for speeding, they can tack on the text messaging fine.

so are you saying I can stare at my phone to dial someone, which is safe, and then click on the hands-free to talk? outstanding. You may be old enough to remember a Bicycling article where this guy writes in about being late for a race. So he gets all kitted-up and throws on his helmet too for the drive. Then he says that he felt much safer and will continue to wear the helmet while driving in the future. Jake
